I had a friend that got me started on it a few years ago. Unfortunately, the friend moved and everyone else just stopped playing. Oh well.
I still have a Spyder TL Plus and all the gear that goes with it. I know it's not the greatest marker out there, but it worked pretty good for me.
As for the question on whether or not it hurts much, it all depends on two things. Where you get hit and how close the shooter is. When I played, we had it setup for 300 ft./sec which, at close range (read: within 20 feet), can really hurt if you get shot in the back near the ribs. I had a welt for a couple days and a bruise for 2 weeks. Course the guy was only about 8 feet away when he shot me.
It can be an expensive hobby, but the sheer adrenaline rush from a match is great.

It is a combination of about three different masks I bought, and I added a small 3 volt fan in the crown to control fogging. as for clothing, I am known around where I play for wearing authentic BDU's and in cold weather I have a 300 weight flight suit I bought at an army navy store.</strong><hr></blockquote>
I had a couple friends that used the same marker. Constant tinkering to maximize performance. They ended up going high-tech and getting Angels. I still think the Autocockers are cool, though. Plus all the mods you can do to them is awesome.
Man, now I want to go play again.

My 7th grade math teacher used to play war with friends using bb rifles. He has a mark on one of his calfs where someone was standing behind him and accidently shot him with a paintball gun. I think he said the guy was screwing around with the gun and not paying attention to the speaker talking about the rules.

When I was a kid we played 'army' with bb-guns all the time....no one ever got more than a little red welt or occasionally a little 'bump' under the skin.....

We used 12 gauge shotguns but, of course, we limitted the choke to an open choke and only used nines. I was only shot in the face once myself.
