Considering the X-Box is a proprietary device, I doubt you'll be able to do anything to overclock without hacking the BIOS majorly. And besides, the games are going to be based on and optimized for the X-Box's standard specs. It more than likely won't be able to take advantage of any modifications you do to increase the speed.

Most components are made within cetain specs. Not every component is a failed 133MHz item thrown in the 100 MHz bin people. Overclocking can ruin a few things, I know. By the time you finish paying for the Big ticket items to keep your overclocked monster going, you might as well have paid for what you overclocked it to in the first place.

(Slightly off tangent)-->Since the XBOX is made by Microsoft, does that mean it will have a modem built in so that you can download XBOX updates periodically as bugs are reported just like for Windows or IE?

If you could overclock the system, does anyone know if the software (games) would be any different, ie better, because of it? I am not familiar with how it works as far as setting the games timing vs processor speed etc.
That depends the x-box supposedly has some xp-platform (correct me if i'm wrong) so i don't know how that would affect it but since the games are set to run at a certain speed it would probably increase the speed over all. A friend figured out how to speed up his nintendo ( after frying a dozen ) and everything sped up. imagine mario on crystal meth and that is the effect you can see.

The question is, with their future plans for internet access, what browser will Xbox have in it? Will they risk yet another fight involveing IE, or will they deploy a xbox only browser.
