Actually, I've seen disposable contacts for astigmatism - so "permanent" ones should also be available.

I still prefer glasses though, even though they are a PAIN to keep clean and smudge free.

Connman, that is such a quick tape and paper clip type of fix. I've had glasses since 1st grade (now I wear contacts), and that kind of damage can be fixed with a reqular soldering iron, some gum, a piece of bread, two big marbles and a little time.

Naw I've tried every conceivable contact available. I can wear a left contact OK, but the right contact is very troublesome. Factor in that I work in a very dusty environment and like you glasses are the choice!

I had Lasik surgery done earlier this year. Surgery was for my nearsightedness and astigmatism. I am now 20/20 w/o astigmatism. Only problems is that my eyes are dry if i don't get enough sleep. I also noticed that I can't see things real close up as well as I used to, but i can't still read books well and fast. You are right. It doesn't help those in need of reading glasses that are also nearsighted. I highly recommend it for those extremely nearsighted people and/or people with astigmatism. You see, the laser will reshape the lens to eliminate the imperfections that cause astigmatism. go to www.lowryeye.com for further info. this is the surgeon that cut my eyes out and put them back in.
