Resolved [RESOLVED] How to Use 3rd Button?

I bought a 3-button mouse recently. How do I get the middle button to work in Windows? It's an unbranded mouse, and the mouse only came with DOS drivers.

You will probably need special drivers written specifically for your mouse to be able to use the middle button. Check with the manufacturer.

Internally, most mice (mouses?) are very similar. They are, after all, just a device to send "code" relating to X&Y coordinates to the applet that places the cursor at a given location on the screen. Even some of the touch pad drivers will sometimes detect and operate a mouse.

If you have a friend who has a Logitec 3-button mouse, borrow his/her installation diskettes and try that. You have nothing to lose. I have found that the Logitec drivers often work quite well with lots of generic mice. You may get all/some/none of the functionality features, but it's well worth a try.
