Bad Mouse
My Logitech cordless mouse acts like it's dirty or the battery is weak. The pointer just stops moving as you move it across the screen and jerks around just like when they're dirty. I've taken out the ball and wiped it off, I've replaced the battery, I've moved the receiver all over the place, I've tried all the channels on the receiver. I don't get it.
Thanks,
Harold

Try it with a different computer (preferrably in an entirely different location) and see if the problem persists. Did you check www.logitech.com for troubleshooting info and drivers for your mouse?

I'm running XP Home. From the Logitech site:
"Logitech serial pointing devices in Windows XP:
Pointing devices connected to the serial port are no longer supported by Logitech MouseWare in Windows XP. If your device is a combination PS/2 and Serial mouse, we recommend using the PS/2 connection. Please view the connection matrix to determine if your serial pointing device can connect to the PS/2 mouse port. If your device is serial only, you must use the operating system's native drivers."
I looked on their chart and my mouse supports both serial and ps2. I'm using the serial now. If I got an adaptor and plugged it into the ps2, would that solve the problem?
Also, my driver is for a standard MS Serial mouse. Will I need to change that? I didn't see a mouse driver on the Logitech site, only something called a Mouseware program.
Thanks again,
Harold

Hi MacGyver,
I've just gotten a new system. I was having the same problems w/the old one, and in a different location, as I've just moved and was using my old system at my previous residence.
I'm searching the Logitech site.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Harold

Hmmmm. Well. While checking out my mouse I moved the mousepad and then was just scrolling around using the desktop... and the darn thing seems to be working fine!
The mousepad? Crimeny.

Mouseware IS the driver you need. It's basically the driver and configuration software, with some other stuff thrown in.
I would defintely connect it to the PS2 port based on the information that you've found.
