Stupid polls? I think I am the biggest offender of that, but it adds a twist.

Yay! 1000 posts!!! I see your point, but everyone needs to brag sometimes, it can help you feel a little better about yourself.

Happy Birthday! I don't mind it, ad I probably would have enjoyed seeing a 'Happy Birthday Draggar' thread. It shows the closeness of this community.

Besides, (IMHOH) if the mods feel a topic is truly inappropreate (sp?) I'm willing to bet they'd close it, and we'd see it float down the list of topics, to be lost in the pages beyond 1.

This is a formum where techs don't have to be techs. I see some threads, and if the subject doesn't get me, I just won't read it. (and besides, it a can be a much needed reality break from work,or the NVidia vs. Voodoo, CRT vs. LCD debates. We need that.</strong><hr></blockquote>

    I agree here,this IS a general forum>
    TECH LOUNGE
"Everything NOT pertaining to PC/computer support type stuff such as your choice of underwear, your boss or anything else within reason! Topics that are of a sexual or drug related theme will be deleted."

Then the folk who feel that they or others have been flamed quickly IM the mods whining about how their feelings are hurt. I was IM’ed asking me to lay off a certain individual (who I was taking a few potshots at – though this is not abnormal) as other new users were bitching about me. Since then I have posted in a somewhat more “friendly” format than before and watch what I say. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not blaming the mods here but the new members who want everything to be shiny and happy and god forbid that we have a real difference of opinion in a post and really argue about something. That’s where the good topics come from.

I think we should begin posting about more racy topics and be free of constraint in the lounge. If you can’t handle the heat stay out of the lounge. Topics touting or decrying religion, companies, people and whatever should be fair game and we should be able to use whatever language we wish barring illegal activity or racism. This of course rules out hacking which I have felt we need some sort of “Security” forum for. That would bring the life back to this place.

    My 2 cents.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Exactly. I've always felt a good lively discussion is great, which is what drawn me here at first to lurk. The thing is though, you can't have a good lively discussion when topics are limited, and most certainly when there's no disagreement.

People may have to lay a lot more pink stuff to stay in here, but that's a cost of disagreement if someone writes something that isn't water off a duck's back to you. (I think of a certain marriage thread from about a week ago which I haven't gotten to yet to respond to)

Part of free speech in a forum like this is that everyone has the right to their own opinion. Keep in mind too, you don't have to read all the threads either, and as an example, I'll skip all the threads which involve what people should have for dinner, et. al.

Usually though, I'll read through all the threads, because I have found this current group is an interesting set of people. Which brings me to what I'm seeing here. A lot of the "older crowd" is noticing that natural change has happened, and are wishing for the way things used to be. I can understand that, but there's a time when people have to move on, and do different things.

Anyway, I hope this post enlightens some people.
People need to find out the real story before they jump to conclusions drawn from their worst fears.
