XP low disk space warning
How do I turn this off? I have a partition of about 500 mb for my swapfile and I keep getting the low disk space warning...

I don't know how to change it, but I can tell you how to modify the settings. Sytem Properties>Advanced tab>Settings button under performance>Advanced tab from within performance options window>Click the "Change" button under virtual memory>Then you'll see some settings that can be modified. I don't think this will solve your problem, but it might help a little.

Sorry, Weby, I think you misunderstood. I know how to change setting for the swapfile/virtual memory. What I want to know is, without adding more space to the partition, how do I turn off the low disk space warning?

I think the option is under disk clean-up under programs, accessories, system.
Hope that helps;..

See if a Disk Quota is checked under your drive properties. Mycomputer>>right-click drive>>properties>>Quota.
Hope that helps. You could also find how to clear your swapfile at shutdown, and that should at least minimize the amount of messages you get.

BTW, to clear the swapfile on shutdown, go to Local Security Settings in the Administrative tools folder. Then browse to: Local Policy>>Security Settings. There is a key named "Shutdown: Clear Virtual Memory Page File". Enable this. Note, it will take longer to shutdown now.

BTW,.. I did find this article in the KB last night on this subject. Maybe this will help. But I couldn't find it in my registry, so I'm not sure. After clicking on the link, scroll down the bottom of the page and you'll see what I mean. <a href="http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q285107" target="_blank">http://support.microsoft.com/directory/article.asp?ID=KB;EN-US;Q285107</a>
On the page it says:
[quote]NOTE : There is a registry value you can set to disable this feature:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\Explorer NoLowDiskSpaceChecks REG_DWORD 1
Then logoff and logon again.<hr></blockquote>
But what the heck is the HKCU part? I didn't see that under regedit.

It's short for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\

That's what I thought. But my string ends at:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Pol icies\comdlg32
So I was a little lost on that advice because of that. I can't seem to find the NoLowDiskSpaceChecks in the registry on my WinXP HE.

If the key doesn't exist, you can create it. Try creating it as a string variable first, if that doesn't work then try the other types (DWORD and Binary)
