Sure blame MS, that's the easy thing to do. If you set your Internet Explorer security settings properly, you wouldn't have this problem. It's like blaming GM for making cars that go too fast that you get into an accident or get a ticket! The user should take some blame, too, IMHO.

gee, My Antivirus prog caught it and stopped it from running. Maybe you should properly protect your machine before complaining about something that is preventable.

Its pretty easy to write a program that would do this. My AV also cought this before it could happen.
Check those IE security settings and update (or get) an Anti Virus program and try to hit that site again.
Security IS achievable without paranoia (or finger pointing)

It didn't log me out. I also didn't see any error message, just this in the new IE window:
[quote]<strong>IE6 Exploit...
Note:
A few people have become little upset over their computer logging them off. However, dont blame me, blame Microsoft. Out of 9000 hits only one person complained.
I recieved this:
"****ing fags! can't u realise that ppl may lose something important, like unsaved work, by clicking that link... ****ing annoying"
You wont lose any unsaved work as Windows will ask you to save before you are logged off.

I didnt invent this code I merely modified the page at <a href="http://www.liquidwd.freeserve.co.uk/" target="_blank">http://www.liquidwd.freeserve.co.uk/</a> to something a little more amusing
</strong><hr></blockquote>
Does that mean that the site is turned off? Or are my security settings cutting things off.

Your security settings are either killing it, or your already patched.
Heres some info about this type of "virus"

Hey guys, given that yes security settings need to be adjusted, ever wonder why its just IE that is succeptable to these exploits?? WHY? Because Microsoft takes too much time integrating their Internet Explorer with every operating system they release.
You guys ever see a browser do this?
<a href="http://www.geocities.com/sxdevelop/hacked.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.geocities.com/sxdevelop/hacked.jpg</a>
Go to that page! (its not the log off one) its another Internet Explorer exploit.
netscape, mozilla, and konquerer are all Not affected by this, my other machine runs linux, and never have i been "logged out" involuntarily,

Its not at all an exploit. This page shows the user the C: drive and lets you browse it thats all. No information about the contents of your drive leaves your computer is just a local view.
A thread in the security forum is discussing a few IE exploits at the moment including the logoff one and its roots. Worth a <a href="http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=50&t=000029" target="_blank">look</a>.
