Windows XP + Roamabout 802.11b = BAD
OK guys, ran into a little snag. I have a computer running winxp with a roamabout wireless card and it runs fine. But when i tried to install xp and the card on my other machine (full format), which is a ECS K7S5A mobo 1.3ghz, it doesn't want to recognize the card. It recognizes the pcmcia pci adapter and installs the drivers but it doesn't recognize that there is anything in the pcmcia adapter. I've reinstalled xp and have done unsuccessful driver install attempts. Whats funny is that enterasys does not support xp with this card BUT the card is working fine on my other computer with xp! (sigh) Anyone had similar problems? Thanks for any help.

Have you tried swapping pcmcia cards to see if they both are working? Also if there is no support for it then your out of luck. I would try the win2k drivers and see if that helps. Also is the other computer a laptop? Laptops pcmcia ports tend to run a little bit better then the pci to pcmcia ports that they have for desktops. If all else fails get rid of the cards and get some USRobotics (3coms) 802.11b's. I use them and haven't had a problem using XP generic drivers. Cheers.

That's what's strange. The other computer is not a laptop and is using the same pci-pcmcia adapter. It works fine. I tried the win2k drivers with no luck. I also tried another card with no luck of it recognizing. Can't figure it out.

make sure the motherboard has the latest bois and the latest drivers installed. I have this board also and the new bois fixed a lot of "quirks"
