    Post Windows XP Pro Upgrade

I am about to upgrade my machine from ME to XP Pro. I understand that XP runs best when it is on an NTFS partition. Should the partition be converted before or after the upgrade? Any help is greatly appreciated.

XP runs just fine on a FAT32 partition (which is what you've got now). In your case, I'd recommend not upgrading to NTFS unless you need the added security.

I may be wrong, but I didn't think you could go from 98 or ME to XP Pro. I though you could only upgrade those OS's to XP Home? Like I said, I'm not entirely sure, but you may want to double-check before you crack open the box.

I just got done upgrading from Win ME to XP Pro. The only hardware compatability issue was with the drivers for the video card (ATI Radeon 128mb). I installed the appropriate drives and problem solved. Now there is an issue with Norton Anti-virus 2002, it hangs whenever it is launched. I also played a couple of games for testing purposes (Max Payne and Red Alert 2). The games lauched without a problem and saved games loaded fine. Although when I completed the current stage on each game, rather than continuing to the next stage the game was shut down and I was returned to the desktop. Very strange. Has anything remotely similar happened to any of you?
