    btw i have an asus a7pro motherboard. tried fiddling with PCI settings in BIOS but couldn't get it to make a difference.

    Had a PC in the shop recently with the exact same problem. SB Live! Value worked 100% with Win98SE, then after the WinXP Home Upgrade, not a peep. We ended up downloading the SB XP updated from Creative's web site, then Re-Install WinXP again and it works fine now. Weird Fix.

    i wish my fix would have been that simple, i did 4 different installs on two different systems and tried over a half dozen different drivers
