XP or ME???
Ok i am about to buy an MDG pentium 4 and they are offering windows XP or Windows ME as an operating system for free with the software bundle that we get..
i want to know which is better and less of a pain in the A$$ (meaning crashes and all the annoying things in windows) so i can make a decision about the OS that is gonna be put on the computer..
the computer is primarely going to be used for typing out projects, icq, playing some internet games, downloading music, editing music, videos and surfing the internet.. common household use..
which is a better choice for me? XP or ME???
please help me out with my dilema

HA! Thats not even fair! XP ALL THE WAY!!! If you get ME, you will be stuck with headache afer headache of bluescreens. Trust me, I've been running XP now for almost a week without restarting, and I'm a powerhouse user so it is very stable! And it is compatible with everything! (well, not officially yet because its not out for another 2 weeks...) Trust me, Get XP!!! ME sux

No comparison. XP any day, under any circumstances. Besides, it seems to have optimizations for the P4, which will take advantage of it's power much better than ME will.

Just have to add that I agree with Darren and Cobra.
As it will be an oem installation MS will not be supporting it the oem will, and that XP is a much better operating system than Me ever was.

I wouldn't touch ME if they paid me to have it preloaded.

A lot of games that work on 98/ME, especially older ones, do NOT work on XP (my friend can't get any DOS games to run) so I'd do a dual boot..
but i agree with QSECOFR, avoid ME if possible.

I haven't found one game that won't work under XP even older DOS ones (except you get no sound which isn't too bigger issue on DOS games anyway ) if run in Compatiability mode, even on NTFS.
