Question Where did my other hard drive go? Promise controller.

I have an Asus Av133 which has an onboard Promise ATA100 controller. I have installed winxp home version on a Maxtor drive on the Primary ide(not the promise controller) and have an ibm drive on the promise controller. I am booting from the Maxtor, primary ide. My Computer does not show the ibm drive. The promise controller and the ibm drive show in device manager as working ok. I have tried showing all files, doing a hardware detection, removing the items in device manager(they are found again, but don't show in My computer). Everything else in my system(two cdroms, and internal zip drive) show ok. Searched for an udated driver at MS, no luck. any ideas?

Has the IBM got a working partition on it?

Goto Disk Management form Administritive Options and check if the IBM has a working partition on it. If the drive is showing in Device Manager then this is probably because the IBM hasn't got a partition on it.

Thanks Darrin. I just found out that the partition is corrupt on the other drive. Not sure how that happened, it was a perfectly fine drive(that i was running win98se on) right up til I backed it up using Drive Image 5.0.(in fact driveimage still shows a fat32 partition) I wonder if that screwed it up. Well that's for another post.
