Crash during CD burning
OK before I go here is my system specs
Celeron 733 mhz
Asus tusl2-c
512 megs of ram ( Micron pc 133 )
32 meg Asus v7100 agp video card
SB live x gamer
Realtech 10/100 nic
enermax psu
30 gig Quantum HD
LG 52 x cd rom drive
LG 8x4x32 cdrw drive slaved to cdrom drive
floppy drive
Windows XP home edition
Well I am getting ready to burn a cd using the included cd burning software
I instruct the software to make the image on the hard drive and allow it to do it's thing
After abot 2 minutes my screem goes black and I am getting a siron like sound coming from my PC's speaker
I hit reset and I get the siron sound again, the only way out of this is to power the system down and cold boot it
Everything is fine after the scan disk but I an wondering if I uncovered a major bug
I downloaded and installed Roxieo Cd creator 5 ( I guess they are developing the cd burning software for XP )
Anyone got any ideas as to what happened , I thought I toasted my mother board
Format c I'm givin er all she's got cap'in !!! )

Sounds like the extra load on the CPU caused an Overheat condition....You're not overclocked are you?

For what it's worth, I tried to install Easy CD Plat 5 also on my system (XP) and it didn't work. I believed it caused a shutdown problem but my HP Tech assured me that it didn't. I just read from a Woody column that CD PLat 5 is not XP compatible, can not be installed and that Roxio is developing either a patch or updating for XP compatibility.

Use Nero 5.5 and all your problems will magically go away.

I'm using both Nero 5.5 and Easy CD Creator 5 platinum, and havn't had any problems. Try uninstalling, and reinstalling, and apply the patch off Roxio's website BEFORE you reboot. Roxio works just fine on XP, but there was an issue with 2k and the Take Two software.

I downloaded and installed Roxio's CD Platinum 5. It worked fine and is still working fine. What type of CDRW drives are you using? Did the software not work or is it the cd burner that is not working?

ECD Creator is NOT caompatible with XP,. however if you install it (NOT Direct CD) and then apply the 5.02b update BEFORE rebooting,... ECD Creator will run,..... just has issues sometimes.
Roxio is working on the UpDate for XP,... in fact its up on their site but the server is getting slammed at the moment,.. and the link wont connect.
When you are able to get the XP UpDate, ECD Creator/Direct CD 5.0 Platinum will run on XP without issues.
