How do you turn on Transparence?
I turned on transparence before but now I have forgotten. The reason its been turned off is because I had to do a system restore because I was doing some editing of the windowsXP icons and I mucked up. System restore worked a dream, but I can't remember where the transparence button on and off is.

I assume you mean cleartype? Open display properties and select the appearance tab. Click the effects button and from the second drop-down select cleartype.

I dont think thats the answer that hes looking for, clear type smoothes screen fonts, and it has nothing to do with transparencies. what he is looking for i think is the menu transparencies like you can do in W2K. i also am looking for how to turn this on. and i havent found it yet.

Follow DocPC's advice and the fade menu effect is in the same place.

I got it working, and all of you where wrong but thanks for your info. Any who for peeps who where wondering right click on my computer then click on properties then once the system properties come up go to Advanced tab then click on settings for Performance. All you need to do now is choose what you want by ticking each of the boxs but if you just want the trans thingy just click on translucent selection rectangle
