black and white mono Xp stuff

Ok I have a great but somewhat stupid XP question, you know when you change the color settings in Xp how it will go black and white before changing the colors? well 1. why does it do this exactly and 2. is there a hack or reg setting or program to make it run in black and white mode. i was using my laptop the other day showing a color blind person the accessibility features and high contrast colors and the large fonts. and when the screen changed colors for a second there they were like stop!!!! that is a great setting , it is so easy to see now... i had to thell them that I did not know any way to do that and was not familier with why it did that.

You could try WinBlinds, its a program for windows xp (certified my microsoft) that allows you to use more skins there are thousands of skins and the new version 3.0 personal is very stable. i have a seen a few skins that make it look exactly like the greyish windows when its swapping themes, or you could make your own.
