favicon.ico..........the icon is black!
I have created an icon called favicon.ico 16x16x16 and I am having the following problem: it looks fine in the MyComputer window but when using I.E. the icon appears black. <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">
Does any1 know what the problem can be?

You've either uploaded the icon file in the wrong mode (ie, as ASCII instead of Binary) and the file has become corrupt, or your icon is not of a true Windows standard.

Well, the upload in BINARY for sure, what do you suggest I can use in order to make a valid icon?

This won't exactly fix your problem, but it might help a little. Go to http://www.favicon.com/ and create your favicon from there. I'm suspecting that the one you created may not be a true favicon (favicon's have very picky requirements). But you can create a cool one from this website. Good Luck.

Is your webserver/webspace able to host files with the ICO extension? If it's Geocities I'm betting it's not. Try downloading and installing one of the pre-made favicons from www.favicon.com and see if that works at all. If not, your web server is probably to blame.
