    Post Visibility

I`m looking for any info on the web about making my site more visible to search engines and users, but apart from lycos` webmonkey, I can`t find much.

I searched the bb here w/ no luck so I`m wondering if anyone knows of a good resource or has any tips.

    Thanks in advance.

Enter Meta tags into the header.

If you want your site to be listed on search engines that use the meta tags to determine the site, I always put key words that are nothing to do with the site, but are searched for a lot like Porn, Warez, etc etc. This way your iste will be called a fair more times by the users who search for these things

Did you post it in the Site Review section here, with a link so the zillions of Windrivers techies can go check it out?

Thanks for the help guys. And thanks for the link Scuba, theres more than enough information in there to keep me busy.

I`m a bit hesitant to put the link the site for review as I`m not the original author, and the site is for the (small) company I work for.

Does this matter? Should I put it there anyways?

Main things to remember when you're doing a web site is to make it bot friendly.

The bots scan your web page looking for key words, proximity and amount of keywords compared to each other.

You should therefore make sure you incorporate all of the keywords likely to be used in a search on your page or in the META tags on your page.

The title of the page is also scanned too, so make sure this has a few keywords in it too.

Be aware that frames can mess things up - it's always a good idea to put some text, including your keywords, into the <noframes> section of the index page as the bot will scan this.

Finally, submit your site to all the major search engines and get it into DMoz.org as this is where about 99% of the search engines pick their information up from.
