look at the properties of the folder in question. Under auto archive tab you can tell outlook what to do with old items. Most likely the info has been autoarchived. You can check the overall auto archive settings under tools -> options -> autoarchive

In the same vein...I have a client using Outlook 97 and she created tickler files. All of a sudden, out of the blue, Outlook won't open, says it's missing dll's (even after a re-install and the dll's are located on the proper drive) and her tickler file won't open either, nor will it open on another machine running Outlook. Only three things have changed since the last time it worked.
    1)Network installed.
2)Cable modem installed. (no firewall, Co. Owner says it's not necessary. EEK)
3)System has moved to a new user who swears he's touched nothing regarding Outlook.

The fun part is, I installed the network and the owner is blaming me for the outlook bruhaha even though I configured email via outlook express on the internet only. Could auto archiving affect her tickler file as well and does anyone have any clue about why Outlook won't open anymore?
Sorry I don't have the exact dll, I'll get it from her tomorrow.
    Thanks!
    GG
