ESS v.90 ESv-I data fax connection drop
Well, I guess this problem applies for all my modems. I have had 3 separate modems display the same symptoms. The first installment in our story is the Sportster 28.8 data fax. While surfing the net back in the 'Ol days' I had it drop for no reason...so I was thinking of upgrading anyway and got a 33.6 winmodem. I had switched ISPs in the interim and found that the winmodem was x2 and the new ISP was v.34...thought that was the problem....wasn't. So after living with the constant disconnects I decided to upgrade again. This time I was sneaky and got a modem from a different manufacturer. With the brand new "shiny" ESS 56k V.90 in my puppy I was crusin for about 3 minutes when the connection dropped....you can imagine the look on my face. Since then I have been on the phone to my ISP was assured that my settings were correct and that I "shouldn't" get anymore disconnects.....wrong. The only protocols installed on my computer are TCP/IP and LAN. I have a Cyrix 233 m2 with 48 mb of RAM, 16 mb video, the modem has the current drivers, and those weren't easy to find...seems ESS doesn't manufacture their products...just slap their name on it as it ships out. I await your suggestions to my problems. E-mail me at [email protected]
