Works Suite with Word 2000
I am working on a PC that runs great, except for Word 2000. The verison of word the customer has came with Works Suite. When you try to open word the PC will lock hard. I completly removed all of works suite and Word, and reinstalled same thing happened. Everything runs great. Any idea what could be happening.

There are a number of issues regarding Works and Office suite. I find the way that resolves these for us (some machines come pre-loaded with Works) is to uninstall works thorugh add/remove apps, then delete the folders created at install, re-boot, then install the Office Suite (whatever version you have). Do a full installation, re-boot and then, if you want, remove any unused or unwanted parts thorugh the steup programme.
Even then, I have occasionally found such things as Access wizards don't work properly
Hoe this helps
Good luck

Absolutely Lowland, this is a major pain in the *** issue that I keep coming across. I have had extreme cases where only by reinstalling the OS have I resolved the issue.
If you are installing the Office suite then I would advise that you always de-install Works first, install Office then reinstall Works with the components you require, but NOT Word or you will be back at square 1.

I have had similar problems as you described and this helped diagnose it...
start->run->
winword -a
This command will open Word without any templates, addins, or customizations. If it opens OK, then try deleting normal.dot
