Best Java IDE
I just got done with some Java training at Sun Microsystems. (Big waste of money...buy a book and call it good. It's a good thing I wasn't the one paying for it.) Anyway, what is the best Java IDE in anyone's opinion?
Sun pushed thier Forte IDE on us...I don't like it. Thier GUI development area is pretty lame. I'm using J++ right now, but I'm not quite happy with how it handles code. (Data type conversions are a little frustrating as compared to pure Java.)
So, I'm wondering if there is an IDE that combines the best of the two IDE's I've used. 1)The pure Java coding abilities of Forte (plus) 2)The sweet GUI/RAD environment of J++?
If anyone has an IDE like this, I would love to hear about it. Thanks in advance!

I've really taken to JBuilder. Very nice IDE. Especially if you can get your hands on the Enterprise edition. You can do EJBs, JSPs, servlet etc really easily and it comes with an app server too. I believe you can download the standard edition for free. Check it out.

I've used <a href="http://www.symantec.com/" target="_blank">Symantec's</a> Java Cafe which was pretty good and better than some of the other tools.
It may be worth getting a trial copy to test.

I use JCreator and Visual Cafe at Uni and I dislike them both. I've never tried J++, but being an M$ product and given their history with java, I don't trust it.
My personal recommendation is Borland JBuilder. I use version 4, but you can download JBuilder5 foundation from <a href="http://www.borland.com" target="_blank">www.borland.com</a> for free. As it happens my dissertation supervisor, who is a java guru, also recommends JBuilder.
