Is your Windows 2K/XP security upto date?
New tool from MS to scan your system with:
Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer
<a href="http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/tools/Tools/mbsahome.asp" target="_blank">http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/tools/Tools/mbsahome.asp</a>
My scan found updates for IE not even mentioned on the Windows update scanner- [IE VB script update and XML updates]-How many on yours?

I started using this tool about two weeks ago on some of our servers. It's easy to use, has decent reports and seems to be fairly accurate. There are still a few bugs in the program though. There were two different patches/hotfixes that mbsa said I needed, so I went to MS, downloaded and installed. I rebooted the system and ran mbsa again just to have it report that those same two patches/hotfixes had not been installed yet.
Like most security checkers, it covers the basic, most well known vulnerabilities/exploits of the Microsoft operating systems. What I like it that once it finds a problem, it tells you about the problem(in program help or links to KB articles) then tells you how to fix it(step by step instructions or links to patches/hotfixes).
A bored admin is a very dangerous person...
