Modem wakes up computer, but everythings disabled.
Does anybody know why a modem starts up the computer when the phone rings, when all power managment is disabled and anything remotely connected to com port power up is also disabled.
As far as I can see, it must be a bios setting, but I can't find it.

So, How many modems got fried this thunderstorm ?

Some bios - phoenix - have a wake on ring feature in the power section of the bios. This could be causing what you see.

Is this a sony desktop pc? I know on those that you could turn the connector on the MB around from the modem for wake on ring, and this would stop the problem. Could be a bios update for this issue also.
