modem driver
Can someone help me locate a modem driver for a Compaq Presario 1210 laptop. There is no recovery CD with the computer and I'm not sure what modem is in the pc.

well as far as i know(because i own a Presario notebook), compaq laptops/notebooks come with Lucent modems and some weird models come with conexant one(i think, i've seen only one in my LIFE with conexant/rockwell chipsets)
but let me search in Compaq.com and then i will post anything about my search!

bro! forget about it... IT HAS A FREAKING LUCENT CHIPSET MODEM!
so go here and download the latest driver and ENJOY your winmodem!

You might try downloading the parts breakdown for your Presario. It is in .pdf format so you will need Adobe Acobat to view it.
It says that your model 1210 is a 56.6+Data/Fax.
You didn't mention which version of WinDoze you're using...go here for a selection of modem drivers for Win95 from Compaq.
Go here for Win98 drivers.
Go here for WinME drivers.
