Windows 98 modem driver - help needed
OK, running Windows 95, my internal modem, which appears to be called something like "ATS255" is happy using the "ASK 56K Plug&Play Modem" driver which comes with Win95. However, when i tried upgrading to Win98, this driver no longer worked, and I couldn't find a suitable one.
Bit of a thicko's question, but any tips?

Kris, first off make sure Windows didn't add a com port where your modem is supposed to be. Next, go to www.askey.com and get thier modem ID program, it's a small download. Run the ID program, go back to Askey's site and you should find the driver you need.
Good Luck,
Charlie

Thanks Charlie, you're star, works now. Off to the display area now.
Oh, one thing - any idea how I can shut this thing up? The speaker volume in the modem properties in control panel has no effect whatsoever, and this thing is so loud.

Put a piece of tape over the speaker on the modem. This happens if you don't have the correct driver installed.
