Old DOS mode Games in WinME?
Unsupported, impossible or just not recommended? Any tips on how to get around ME's dislike of DOS programs? I suppose using a boot disk with some mouse and sound drivers wouldn't be so hard, but an easier way would be much appreciated. Any thoughts?

There was an unofficial DOS patch introduced for Win ME which modifies IOS.sys,COMMAND.com,REGENV32.exe files and will enable DOS from F8.
Version 1.3 here <a href="http://www.geocities.com/mfd4life_2000/" target="_blank">http://www.geocities.com/mfd4life_2000/</a>

It however does not overly like the old dos games though. Win98/XP run in it like a charm.
Otherwise, use the unofficial patch, i had limited success with that. I would recommend the boot disk/boot CD options has your best alternative.

Good stuff Archer. I'll D/L that and pass it along, I'll see if it does the job. Thanks. I'm still open to other suggestions as well...
