classics - I remember extremely long load times. Would insert the disk and have time to do other things while waiting for the game to load

The games series by Epix were fun too.

Of course also previously mentioned, I have now got to find myself a version of scorched earth.</strong><hr></blockquote>

    LOL. Great game.
Believe it or not, I still on occasion play Tie Fighter Collectors CD ROM

Elite (on 086 with cga monitor) I played this for nearly a year and had pages and pages of trading statistics and good planets for pirate bashing. Then Doom, I played this so much, laughing all the way (opening and closing doors real quick just to hear the screams of pain as some hapless Imp blasted some other beastie). Sadly, I admit to still loading Doom now, with the openGL patch, because I miss that fun element in gaming.

I miss the fun, too. It seems that with games today becoming more and more realistic and complex, that some people take them WAY too seriously. The whole point of a game is for fun and entertainment. If it isn't any of those things to me, then what's the point?

Best game I had for C=64 was Silent Service

Best text based game I am still playing is tradewars via telnet

Best old game I had was Heretic. It was a doom spinoff that starred a wizard and was magic rather than weapon based

    Cool

I can't believe no one has brought up Lode Runner on the C64 yet!

...or the "olympic" Games from Epic (Summer and Winter), or Jumpman and Jumpman Jr., or Archon and Archon II - Adept. That's one of the sources where my nickname came from.

    ...Sigh...

You can download a Apple II emulator and the original Wolfenstein <a href="http://wolfenstein.org/fanclub/castle_wolfenstein_instructions.phtml" target="_blank">here</a>.

Maybe a dedicated 486 DOS gaming system? There are 486's around that people can't give away. I'm throwing away working DX2/66 boards with 8M, and at the moment I needed to hack an old DOS program for work so I threw some cards into a DX4/100 m/board & it's lying on the bench with a monitor hanging off it.

I still like a burst of Commander Keen, Cosmo or Wolfenstein 3D occasionally.

    Jumpan was a classic too.

Elite - spent many hours / weeks / months with that game. I wish they would make a 2002 remake.

Unfortunatly I cant remember where I got the files from as I downloaded them over four years ago, but would be happy to send the emulator and the games to you as they are actually small enough to fit onto a floppy disk. Now, all I need is an email address

Although I did find <a href="http://members.ozemail.com.au/~gvincent/gregpage.htm" target="_blank">this link</a> with just a quick Yahoo search...And Paranoid is on the site as well, along with many others</strong><hr></blockquote>

THANK YOU!!! Now I will finally be able to finish that damned game! My original disk went corrupt after the final game I played in which I was on the SECOND LAST ROBOT in the entire game when I died. *&^%$#@!!!!

P.S. Anyone who wants to email me can at [email protected] .
