Q3 - Help with mods

OK, I've downloaded a few mods and maps, but I can't seem to play them, even when I select 'mods' or 'extras'. I have a few new character models along with a few mops, what directory doI put them in? I've tried some of them, and none seemed to work, even the main Q3 folder...

For mods, place them in their individual folders under the main "Quake III Arena" folder:

Quake III Arena\Excessive\...

For maps and player models, you'll have to dump them into "Quake II Arena\baseq3".

Some models may require another subfolder named "Quake III Arena\baseq3\players" where (in some cases where skin extraction wasn't polished off) the model and/or help file has to be placed.

None of that worked, maybe I am doing something wrong?

(Heh, maybe I'll just stick with the regular mods.. )

Which mods in particular? What models in particular? Details man... details...

I found a few character mods I'd like to try, and I've downloaded a couple of maps (haven't tried them yet). I can't get the character modes to work, in the Q3 Arena or the Q3 Team arena..

WHAT ONES IN PARTICULAR!?!?!? I was thinking that one of us could download it and try it to see if we can get it to work. That is why we need details.
