Red face 98SE and internet connection sharing

Has anyone managed to get this working reliably ?

Every so often, my machine (The one one with the modem ) thinks I'm the one without the modem, only way I've found out of this is to uninstall and then reinstall networking components. A right pain in the *!"

Alternatively, can anyone suggest other software to do this.

I had it running with no probs at all through a hub since it's release date until March this year (I upgraded the machine to run NT instead). I did find thought that you needed to leave everything for the network to windows own default settings as manual IP addresses and such made the ICS fall over when it felt like it. On the machine with the modem in , leave the internet connection as 'Dial Up' and on teh other set it as connect via LAN. SHould have no problems. One machine was using a 3Com 3C905b PCI card and the other a generic LAN adaptor, both running at 10mbps through a LinkSys 8 port hub using TCP/IP.
