this is very close to me...... Was watching it on the news trhoughout the day.... Its great that everybody is alive and out of the well.......

I am very happy to see them all make it out alive. Accidents like this 10 years ago would have meant that we would be recovering 9 bodies and not rescuing 9 survivors.

I was a bit turned off by the PA governor. He seems to be trying a little too hard to get into the spotlight and may have even been a distraction to the rescue workers. I wonder if when they rehearsed the rescue procedure if the governor "rehearsed" helping to carry the last miner out on a stretcher? And then to give that big pompous speech at the end. It all seemed pretty canned to me.

Oh well, I guess that's what politicians are good for....hogging the camera and getting in the way.



The real heroes are the mine workers and engineers who managed to locate the exact spot to dig where they would be able to reach the shaft where the miners were trapped. This incident will definitely be a valuable training tool for mine rescuers for many years to come.
