CD Burning Probs
Hi! I am using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum under Windows XP Home. I am using a Samsung SW-216B (16x10x32) CD-RW drive. When I want to make a music CD using Music CD project I add all my tracks it copies the first track then the drive just goes mad and starts spinning fast and stops after a while.
I then get the following error: E80041925 Track Writer error - Command retry failed - [T7118].
Anyone know how I can resolve this issue it's really getting to me now and i've already wasted a few blanks CD's as I keep ending up with coasters.
Thanks

Have you been to www.roxio.com for the XP patches?

have you tried burning at a slower speed?
either that or there is a buffer setting for the actual drive that can be changed somewhere. I'm not sure exactly where or how to cahnge that, but I'm sure that somebody here does.

Have you disabled the native WinXP CD burning support ? I made a couple of coasters in XP with the very same Samsung drive before I really did got to the basic problem.
Here is the key which does the trick :
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer\NoCDBurning
Use with care though, you are working on the registry. Holds good with XPPro. Not for XPHome.
Also try and download fimware Q002 available at Samsung page.

Yes I have download all the XP updates for Easy CD Creator which are the 5.1 update and the drive update.
I have disabled the native CD buring support in XP I have done this by disable the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service.
I have not tried recording at a lower speed but I have tried disableing Buffer Underun protection but have had no luck.
I have already updated the drives firmware to Q002 which I now think was a mistake because all was fine befroe I updated well i havn't coppied anything for a while so i'm not entirley sure it has got something to do with the firmware. But I have not changed any other settings anywhere.
Thanks

Tech-To-Tech Mod
try another program
to verify that it is not a hardware issue, download the trial version of NERO and give it a go. If it works, then you are looking at a software problem with Roxio and XP if it doesn't work with nero you could be dealing with a hardware issue

From the amount of problems people seem to have with cheap dvd/cdrw combo's - I would be tempted to get two separate beasts...

Yeah I am using two seperate drives now I have used DVD/CD-RW combo drives in the past but had too many problems.
Going to look round for some new drives and make a comparison and see which ones I think are best.
Thanks
