    Price Check

What would you pay for a Celeron 566 with 128 MB of RAM and a 6 gig HDD? Above, below, or right on $500 (Canadian) which is $315 American?

Edit: I'm an idiot. I forgot to put the word LAPTOP in there

If it's just the box - no os, monitor, keyboard etc... I would say that was expensive!

Check this link for a Canadian price reference:

    http://www.factorydirect.ca/cgi-bin/...t.pl/NOTEBOOKS

Based on the information at that link, I'd have to say that $500 for that calibre of laptop is an absolute steal. Just make sure that it has a floppy drive, the battery isn't toast, and (this is the most important part) that it has drivers for the OS you are planning on using. Oh yeah, and make sure the laptop isn't locked like those IBM's we get a post about every month around here.

Yeah, I've taken a good look at this thing since, and it seems to have some problems with it. For one, the processor seems to either overheat incredibly quickly, or it's just plain buggy. The CDRom drive doesn't work, I'll trust myself to solve that, and the battery is completely useless...

If it's broken I would say that's way too much to pay for it.

I just bought the laptop I'm typing this with for a $250...he originally wanted $350, but since I bought it that day and in cash he settled for $250. It's a Dell Lattitude Celeron 600, 128MB RAM, 6GB HD, 8MB ATI Video, 24XCD, No Floppy, and 12.1" Active Matrix...in my opinion, it's a deal! I still would have bought it at $350, so $315 ain't all that bad. Just check out the specs...make sure it's active matrix...dual scan sucks! And also check out the unit before buying it...does the battery work? What about the keyboard? CHECK ALL THE KEYS! Nothing worse they getting a laptop that doesn't have the 't' key working...did that once After all that go for it!
