sorry just been playin with nics ,cables , hubs etc for about a week or so in my spare time (on 2k) however i came across this http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network.htm , (netstat) that helped me tweak a simple pc< >pc x over , and yesterday a switched setup (admittedly only 4) ,,,(not to bad for a office/spare bedroom about 9ft x 7ft) ,,,,anyway
i think (unless someone knows abetter way ) apart from pingin around ,,,,they either work or dont.
i could,nt accept the price of nic cards ,,,,in the UK ,, realtech cards are £8.50 RETAIL ,,,,under 2 gallon of fuel ,,or 40 ciggys ,,,
so the box of "old" isa 3com cards i had here (rj/coax/serial? ) ,,all 10 base have all been binned ,,,
now then where is the linux forum , coz i,ve got a spare machine with a nic etc , and i want some help settin it up ,,,perminent ,,,,,but i dont know linux ,,,,,,

Driver Terrier
Most nics come with their own diagnostic utility - check the driver diskette, or post what nic you have and someone will get you a link I am sure.
