ps/2 mouse port sampling rate

how can i change / increase this? i think there is a registry key somewhere, but i cant find it (win 98+2k)
while i could plug it into the usb port and get a variable sampling rate, my mouse causes issues with linux when in the usb port.

In XP its in the system properties of the device so I`d assume 2K is the same,not running 98 at the momment but it should either be here or in the control panel/mouse section.

thanks, works fine in 2k, but 98 is still a problem, which is annoying because 98 was worse to start off with :/
