    Post Win95 cd rom

    hello cool reader,

I am interested in getting a old or second hand copy of the windows 95 software. I have a laptop that had originally windows 95 which I got reformated at department store but I do not have the cd to use when the computer asks to update or load some data from the source disc. Where could I find win95 so it will solve my need? Thanks

You're going to have to find a copy on ebay or somewhere like that. You will have to buy a piece of hardware with it to make it legal.

Windows 95 is no longer supported (except for pay per incident) or sold as a mainstream OS.

See if you have the folder in windows explorer: c:\windows\options\cabs as it may contain the cab files you need.

    uuuuuggggg....

Windows 95 is rather hard to come by now a days. You might try e-bay like DocPC said. You could also go the less than legal way and see if you could find it somewhere on a Peer to peer network. That is quite a stretch.

By no means am I promoting the use of peer to peer networks to promote software piracy. I am simply stating this as an option to solve a problem.

You could also try HALF.com. It is an Ebay company, but unlike Ebay it has set prices and is not an auction site. All items are pre-owned. The conditions range from still in the wrapper to fairly used. Try this link:

    Good luck,

DocPC, a quick question. Why would he have to buy hardware with it to make it legal?

It's part of the OEM deal.

a manufacurer buys windows from microsoft at a cheaper discount than retail widows, so microsoft reqiures the OEM to sell those copies of windows with hardware, usually a complete system. but some resellers get around this by selling it with a MoBo, HD, or a CPU.
