    Memory

Hi iam going with the 2.26 gig cpu and from what i have heard the rambus ram out preforms the DDR. The rambus ram is almost double the cost of DDR. My question is what should i go with? Is it worth the extra money to go with the rambus...thx for your input...Born

Use the DDR.........Cheaper and performs just about the same as RAMBUS.

Doc has it right, DDR on the new boards perform almost as well has RAMBUS. jut make sure you get a good board, the 845G and sis333 chipsets seem to be at the top of the performance chart

Depends on how sensitive you are to performance. With my old RAMBUS memory (400Mhz) I was getting a little slowdown at 1024x768 in SOF II. I run it set for the highest detail possible (4xAA, 32bit color etc). Now with the P4T533-C and 1066 RAMBUS memory I get zero slowdown. It's smooth as glass. Quake 3 Benchmark is here.

Is it worth the extra money? It was for me. If you go with RAMBUS make sure you get the processor and board that both support 533Mhz front side bus.

I honestly dont think that it would be worth the extra $$ and the hassle of pairs and the heat

Go for the DDR and use the money on a good vid card or bigger HDD
