Should I?
OK, I have my degrees in electronics, mainly the component level etc..
I've done testing, assembly and engineering of power supplys along with other kinds of curcuits.
Well, sadly to say, I've been out of it for a number of years since my internship ran out.
Now, I've realized this, and I also realize that a lof of my "knack" for it is gone, and I'm trying to figure out how I could get back at it, or at least something to preactive with.
I've been thinking of getting one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...859301-6840812
Yes, they're mainly for kids, but could be a help to me. I already have a mulitmeter, so that I wouldn't need (to take measurements).
Its a 300-in-one project kit, but the prive is a little steep at $80, although it does seem to have a large breadboard and basic components already there with spring-loaded connections. I could easily add the chips etc I already have.
Anyone have other suggestions on what I could do to get back into this groove, and any other kits around? I've seen them from a couple of bucks to over $175.
Thanx in advance!

There are many, many, many different kits of this nature out there on the market. Ranging in a wide varitey of prices too. I see nothing wrong with picking one up. I picked one up myself when I was taking electroncs in school, and it helped me out soooo much. If its something that you really want to touch up on, go get one.

I spent many hours playing with the one I had from Radio Shack(many moons ago). I would love to get another one but don't have time to play with it anymore.

Why not? I mean, even if you start playing with it and everything you once new comes back to you so fast that you suffer from whiplash, the re-remembering will be worth it, eh?

Thing ive been looking into, was getting a robot kit, create your own robot.
There are some pic boards you can started learning how to put together then program the pic and add motos etc.. then you can create a robot running off of Infrared, have a X,Y stblaizer to make a robot walk on to legs.. so many things you can do with a robot kit
what im looking into is embedded microcontrollers

Ya think that after spending that kind of money, he would just go get a cheap ohm meter....

Mindstorms rule!
But these kits are so expensive, I'm considering them as a gift to myself and not necessarily something my son would play (re: toss around the room) with.

They are expensive, but you can program them with VB on the computer.
The basic kit as $200 for me, then a year later I bought the droid developer kit. 6 months later I got the dark side devoloper (AT-AT!) and last Christmas I bought the ultimate accessory kit.
I've recently realized that I do not have the knowledge I had back in college with robotics (I wish I did...)
