    Saving Files & Setting

Hi! I have a system running ME and I want to save my files and setting so I can transfer these to my laptop which is also running ME.

Anyone know of a good way on how to do this or is there some software I can use.

    Thanks

if the size of the files fits on a floppy 1.4, then copy the files as they are on your desktop to the flopy and from the floppy to the laptop. If the files are large, zip them before you copy them to the floppy, then unzip them on your laptop. If zipped files are too large for a floppy, then consider CD-RW.

Using the CD-RW option, first erase then disk on your desktop. the copy the files you wish to transfer to the disk, then copy the files from the disk to your laptop. Next time you want to transfer files, add files to the same disk, then copy them to the laptop. Keep adding files until you get the message not enough disk space. At that point, erase the disk on your desktop and repeat the cycle.

If you wish to make the transfer by direct cable connection between the two machines, visit a hardware store and they will give the right parts .

The fastest and easist way would be if you had 2 NIC's, or even if you have one in the lappie, you can get one for the desktop for $18. Use crossover cable and voila! 10/100mb/s speed and done very cheaply.

You can also use MS Backup (Right click the drive, properties, tools, backup). Also I'm pretty sure there is a wizard specifically for this, I know Win2k and XP offer these options, but I havn't spent more than 2 total hours on ME before I dumped it. Do a search in help to find this wizard if you desire. Start, Help.
