Hyperterminal, TCP/IP?
When one dials out and connects with hyperterminal, for example with one of the at&t or mci applets already in 95 or 98, is one establishing a tcp/ip session?.
I sometimes use hypertrminal to troubleshoot modems, and i NEED TO KNOW!
merci!

Thanks geeksRus
Soooooooooo---- what the he77 is going on then?
When you are having a dialog during a hyperterminal session:
Hyper: login
Me: adfghjadf
Hyper: Enter password
Me: kladfldgjjkl
Hyper: wrong! try again!
etc...
Obviously the modem works. We are bi-directionally communicating. There is a big party going on over the phone line. What protocol is handling this, if it is not TCP/IP?

i guess the best way for me to explain it is to liken it to the old pre-internet BBS's. in fact Hyperterminal could be used to connect to them. here is a much better explanation:
Hyperterminal
