Question No writer in software, but ok in XP???

XP recognises my CD-writer. I want to burn a CD tru audioproduction-software Steinbergs "wavelab". Yet this software does not recognise neither my cd-romplayer or cd-writer????? On producers website is noticed that my writer is really supported. I also installed (in most cases unnessacary a patch for newest writersupport)
Why does the software not recognise the writer, what can i do?

    oddly enough...

I had this exact same problem yesterday with an associates machine. They wanted a CD-burner so I went and got one, went to install it and the OS recognized it but the software didn't. This isn't really sound advice but I browsed the software CD that came with the drive and there was an alternate setup file on the disk, ran it and it worked just fine.
