Hmm not good to be a white house staffer right about now!
PHILADELPHIA - The U.S. Secret Service has issued an alert for a man reportedly headed to the White House in a vehicle believed to be filled with explosives.
The Secret Service confirms to WTOP that it has issued an alert, but would not be specific about the type of vehicle being sought. D.C. Police and the U.S. Capitol Police tell WTOP they are aware of the alert.
The Secret Service tells CBS Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts that the alert was issued for a man in a rental van, possibly one filled with explosives.
But KYW Radio in Philadelphia reports that Philadelphia Police, in a "general radio message," say the man is traveling in an Enterprise rental car -- a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier with Pennsylvania license tag number "DVT-0196."
The suspect is identified as Jeffrey Clutier, who is thought to be wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and bedroom slippers, KYW reports. Philadelphia Police tell KYW the man was last seen in Lester, Pa.
The Secret Service has told Philadelphia Police the man may be in the company of girlfriend and a brown dog, the station reports.

Subject Of Secret Service Alert Picked Up In Wash DC
Wednesday September 4, 1:34 pm ET
NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- A man who was the subject of a U.S. Secret Service alert has been picked up in Washington D.C., broadcast reports said Wednesday.
Television pictures showed the apprehension was without resistance.
The suspect, identified by Philadelphia police as Jeffrey Clutier, was taken into custody after driving from Philadelphia to Washington in a car authorities believed was filled with explosives, according to reports.
According to first reports, no evidence of explosives has been found. The Secret Service's bomb squad was at the scene, along with officials from the Federal Bureau of investigation.
The suspect and an unidentified woman were traveling in a rented Chevrolet Cavalier with Pennsylvania license plates.
Charles Ramsey, the Washington police chief, said no explosives were found in the car that the Secret Service had been looking for.
The Associated Press said the man and woman in the car were husband and wife.
Law enforcement sources said ten rifles and six handguns were found in the car.
Fox News reported that the couple may have started out from New Hampshire.
The man was found to be carrying ammunition, the Cable News Network reported.
A Secret Service source says the male suspect will face felony charges of carrying unregistered firearms, The Associated Press reported.
One of the jobs of the Secret Service is guarding the president and other prominent officials.

Flabooble!
Does anyone know what tipped off the SS to this guy? Why they were looking for him?
Bedroom slippers, his girl and dog in a rent a car sounds more like a gun dealer more that an assassin.

I'd still like to know why they wanted the guy, his dog and girlie and his slippers.
"The Secret Service had put out an alert for the Chevy Cavalier, which was reportedly rented in Philadelphia Wednesday morning. But exactly why they were interested in the car and its occupants remains unclear."
