    Post Mustek Paragon 600IIEP

Problems scanning at anything over 100dpi. The scanner stops at about a third of the way through and the computer resets after freezing(mouse still works) for 2 min or so. The activity light on the scanner keeps going though.
    Computer specs.
    MVP3 mobo with K6-2 500
    64mb PC100 & 128mb PC133
    Acer 8x4x32 CDR/W
    TNT2 m64
    Win98se
ISA printer card set to 278, IRQ9.

I've reinstalled the scanner drivers, installed via 4-in-1 4.29, tried the scanner with the ISA printer port and onboard(set to EPP). It doesn't seem to be RAM related as I've tried it with different RAM sticks.
The wierd thing is it scans fine at 100dpi.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
To prove something, one must first try to disprove it.

You might try setting your LPT port to ECP or ECP+3 or some variation thereof via your BIOS setup. This allows that port to control more than one device...such as a printer and scanner.

    Just an idea...
    Good Luck!

I'll give it a try. My experience has always been that Mustek scanners don't like ECP much. It looks like a scanner problem at the moment.
    Cheers guys.

Those particular scanners are notorious for circuit board failures. What you are describing sounds like one I had it would freeze and the image would be stepped. Mainboard needed replacing in it and the cost outwayed the worth of the scanner. I hate mustek and plustek and olympic scanners they are the bain of my workshop.
