    Hp deskjet 1000c

I have a customers printer in here that will not according to her print more than 10 pages at one time. She of course did not bring in the computer just the printer. So far I'm having all kinds of trouble getting it to work on one of our machines! I finally got the drivers to install and told it to print a test page. It did but still had some printing program up. I finally had to end task on it as it was "not responding". I then when to try and print again and then it said to first install a printer. Both the printer that was on it and this one disappeared! The computer I'm running this on is a Celeron 433 that we had trouble with though I thought it seemed to be working fine now. I had removed some bad ram/cpu and did a fresh intall and it has been running fine for the last several days. Hp's website lists the CSI and the CXI but has no info on the C. Anyone have any ideas before I tell her to get a new printer?

    Edit:

Update, after rebooting the printer reappeared and I was able to print a 13 page document but then the printer turned itself off?

    Try a different print driver
Pick out the 550C and see what happens, or get one that is simular to the printer,

    Arrow

Go here for product specs for the 1000C Series . \

Also, go here for your User's Guide .

Go here for your Parts Breakdown .

The only other thing I could find concerns Power Management Features . It talks about shutting itself down after 10 minutes or so...I suppose that it could be going into Sleep Mode when it's not supposed to.

Sorry I couldn't help out more...let us know how it ends up...Good Luck!

Arrow Some more info to chase down...

Go here for Driver v 9.0 Overview . It talks about setting your parallel port to ECP.

Go here for troubleshooting communication problems in MS-DOS.

    Testing basic driver functionality .

Thanks Eagle and DonJ! I think I have it working now. The driver appears to be the problem. She will try reinstalling a different driver. I have not had the problems she has had but I did have problems with the drivers. DonJ i will also check out the last couple of links you sent to see if that helps.. Thanks again!!
