A house... sheesh!
STG at least has the guts to be upfront about abusing donors' generosity!
Hmmmm. They have an online store at CafeShops too...

Greetings
I happened to stumble across this link in the URL referrals on the counter... so I figured I'd say "Hi!"
First, yes, I'm really me, not some guy who's pretending to be me to be funny. I suppose there's no way to prove this, other than.. Ok I just thought of a way. I took a screen cap of me typing this, and posted it up to my website. So I'm either really the guy, of I've figured out his password.

Second: yes, I have some junk up on cafeshops. The picture that's on most of the items (the mad guy) is a picture my 5-year old son drew. 2 or 3 different people said that they'd buy a T-shirt with it if they could, so I threw it up there. Since it's free to me to add all sorts of items, I figured "why not?"
Third, of course I could remember someone's name 5 years later. I'd write it down.
Finally, I really enjoyed seeing this thread. Seriously. If nothing else (and believe me, nothing else seems to be coming out of this.. I'm up to a whopping $20, all from people I know and nothing since a few weeks ago when I made the page...), I think it's an enjoyable read, and really, if getting the link to the house page on ilovebacon (which was pretty cool) and random forums helps people stumble on the site, maybe they'll enjoy it somewhat. Or maybe they won't. Either way, well.. it beats looking at counter stats and seeing that my Mom and 70-year old aunt were the only people to visit the site...
So that's about it. I just figured I'd register and say "Hi".
Jake

NooNoo - I'm absolutely serious about this!
I'm really buying a house (I just got my loan approval yesterday), and I really would accept people's money, and I really would hang up people's pictures. The whole thing might sound like a joke, but that's only because that's my preferred stlye of writing. Like I said, worst-case scenario, it at least got some new visitors to my page. Best case scenario, some rich old guy who happens to read drivers forums buys me a house. I'm happy either way.

Maybe I should set up a site to take donations to help me survive untill I can work again and get a income instead of selling everything I have.

And you would be happy knowing that you didn't achieve this by yourself?

Why wouldn't I be?
It's true that there's a sense of pride in knowing that one worked hard and was able to achieve a life goal. And, to be honest, I have worked hard, for many years, and have achieved several things that I'm proud of. I have a great family, a pretty decent job, a good group of friends. I'm going to buy a house anyhow, with or without (most likely, without) anybody else's help. I'd be skeptical of somebody who said they *wouldn't* be happy if somebody gave them money.
Would I be happier if I used all my own money (to achive this by myself)? Possibly, but I doubt it. If a random stranger gave me so much money that I didn't have to take out a loan, I think I could find a lot of ways to spend the hundreds of thousands of dollars over the next 30 years that would, in fact, make me happy. If somebody offered to give ANYBODY enough money to buy a house, with no strings attached (other than the fact that they had to hang an 11x14 picture of the guy up somewhere in their house), I have to believe that ANYBODY would take it. By "anybody" of course, I'm not referring to people with hundreds of millions of dollars, to whom a couple hundred thousand dollars is the equivalent of the price of a super-sized value meal to me.
Anyhow.. yeah. I can honestly say I'd be happy either way.
