This may sound generic, but have you updated the drivers for the printer? Try using the LJ4000 PCL6 drivers, I've always had good luck with them.

Have you 'paused' print by mistake? Right click the printer icon on the lower right hand side of the screen. This is the one that comes on the screen when you go to print your document. Then click Open Print Jobs, Then look at your print jobs to see if they're paused. If they are, they will say so.

Have a look on the HP website for updated drivers, I've encountered a problem with Excel 97 and laserjet 5Ls on W2K. HP had an updated driver that fixed the problem.

You could also try changing the driver to an HP Laserjet 4 driver. That driver works well with almost every HP laserjet.
