Just installed a router - No ftp...
I just installed a router and I'm sharing my cable internet connection with my roommate.
My OS WinXP Pro. When I try to use CuteFtp and try to connect to a site, I get a message saying "Can't initiate RAS connection." Furthermore, I can't download any files through ftp with my browser.
I'm sure I have to fool around with some settings to resolve this but I'm not sure which settings.
I would really appreciate any help on this.
Thanx!

What type of router did you buy? First I would check to see if there's a firmware update for the router. (There probably is). Second, I would check to see if you have all the proper ports open, but this is dependent on the router. Also, are you using any sort of firewall? If so, make sure that isn't causing a conflict.
To make a guess, I'd guess you are using the Dlink 402 router. That's the one I have and was causing me the same problems, problem that was only fixed by a firmware upgrade I didn't perticulary like, but fixed the problem none-the-less.

Hi and thanks for replying.
My router is a Linksys NR041 4-port router. It has the latest firmware and only two computers are connected to it.
I keep trying different settings but nothing. Not sure if I should be looking at the proxy settings of CuteFTP or the socket settings.
Thanx again!
