    Office XP Activation Question

Does anyone know if there is a way to backup the activation file for Office XP like you can for Windows XP with the wpa.dbl file?

Before anyone asks, yes my copy is legal. I have 5 licenses. I've just used 2 of my licenses but I would like to re-install the OS on one of the PC's. However I don't want to use another one of my keys to re-install Office when I re-install the OS.

Is there a way to backup the license status so I won't need to re-activate Office?

    Thanks in advance.

Your Office XP license is machine specific. You can legally reinstall on the same machine using the same key as many times as necessary. During the re-activation process the phone call to Microsoft usually only takes a couple of minutes. So what is the big deal?

In the future if you are going to buy five or more user licenses you might want to consider purchasing a volume license. Try here: eOpen Microsoft

Thats basically what I was asking, is if it's machine specific. I know the phone call only takes a few minutes, but it's a pain. I found my answer shortly after posting.

    Thanks.

BTW - When you purchase the Volume License your special product key from Microsoft bypasses the activation.
