    Windows XP 3D screensaver problems

Theres a 3D version of the Windows XP screensaver available from MS's site (filename 3DwindowsXP.exe, 393KB), i got it when i grabbed XP Powertoys as it was linked on the same page. Anyway, its caused me a fair few problems so i thought i'd post here to warn anyone else that may have been thinking of using it. After its been on some time (i'd guess an hour as i was watching Fear Factor) it seems to reset my system and when i click on my profile on the Welcome screen, i boot back into a clean desktop with lots of settings missing (lost my whole FlashGet download list, damnit) and get a "Windows has recovered from a serious error, blah blah" message. The tech info doesn't give me any great insight but i only installed the 3D saver this afternoon and my system has now rebooted of its own accord twice. Thats the only thing i've installed (i've now binned it) today and my system was working 100% up until the point of install today.

Just a heads-up for anyone out there that might come across it, perhaps it just doesn't like my system but its not worth you finding out just for a damn screensaver anyway...

Thats the screensaver we started using in our shop for machines on display, and found a few machines that didn't like it, but most of them had no problem..the ones that had no problem seemed to be with the higher end graphics..geforce 2 and up with 32 mb and up..I've been using it at home for about four months with no probs on my geforce3..One thing I noticed..whenever we would put it in anything with a SIS chipset, it caused problems

Well i think my system is well enough specced to handle it, Epox 8K3A, 256DDR, XP2000, Radeon 7200 32MB DDR vivo, SB live!, etc...

Who knows...anyway, if it works for you then great, but it doesn't work for me and i've had no probs since i removed it.
