    Post fast scanner

    What is the fastest and most reliable scanner on the market today for under $500? I am looking right now at getting the HP Scanjet either 5490 or 7400.. What else would you suggest I look at?

    I normally don't like recommending specific models over others. I know that one of the primary concerns these days is support for WinXP...of course, you already know to check for OS compatibility.

    Having said that, you can check out HP's website for <a href="http://www.bstore.hp.com/cgi-bin/hpbs/dropin.jsp?FamilyOID=-11250" target="_blank">scanners</a>. Go to the bottom of the page and select a model...it will take you to detailed specs.
